I try to memorize him
with the soft pads of my fingertips.
Closing my eyesand slowly tracing
the cheekbone's rise and gleam
the moist, fragile skin around the eye
the jawbonesquare, angled, tight
roughened by the days relentless growth.

I will my heart into my fingertips
and move them through the soft curling
hair on the broad chestrising and falling
rising and falling over the heart.
My hand moves down the hard belly
And I find
I cannot remember,
in every detail,
the line of his face
I touched only a moment ago
.It has already begun to fade.

And I had wanted to hold it forever.

He strokes my arm
runs his broad fingers
down the naked curve of my back
over the smoothness of my thigh
draped across him.
Is he trying to memorize me also?

We cannot hang on to this moment
Even knowing it is the last moment
.Life pulls uslike a great tidal waves
weeping us forward
dragging us into the perpetual present.

I always thought it would be me who was going to go first. Watching you, you were so strong…unlike me, who was weak. I needed you so much it scared me sometimes. I was afraid of what I would do if you left me. I prayed you wouldn’t.I was weak. I couldn’t find the strength to even imagine what I would do without you. You would have scoffed and said, “ Silly pup, I’m not going anywhere…” But today as I watch you lie on the bed, I wonder if someone up there had heard you and decided to prove you wrong. For once.

I wish you were right. I wish…you were here with me.

All I can feel is the emptiness.

I am bewildered nowadays. I always seem to see you. My heart hurts…it doesn’t want to let go. It’s looking for you….but my eyes can’t find you. Where are you?

Are you hiding? You like teasing me but don’t be cruel.

Yet today as I watch you drift, I know…it wasn’t a game. You weren’t hiding. And I still couldn’t find you.
You seem so wrong in that bed. It was the wrong bed. You were supposed to be at home, curled up with me after our lovemaking, our limbs tangled and the cooling sweat on our body, not with all those tubes attached to you.

I still remember the last words you said before you drifted away.

“ Don’t cry…”

“ I’m not gonna cry over ya, you jerk! Ya promised me so you’d better come back or I’m gonna tell the whole world that you’re a wuss!” my voice wobbled dangerously. I didn’t want to hear the wobble. I had to be strong.
The loud shrieking of the machine pierced through the silent air.

What was that sound? It was so loud…

I never got to say goodbye to you…you simply…went. Leaving this cold empty shell behind. I woke up facing a white ceiling. Again. What am I to without you? How am I to carry on? I see your smile in my mind. I can’t cry anymore.

Softly I lock the door in my mind. I’ll be with you forever inside…I won’t ever have to say goodbye now.
I can see you smile brilliantly, your cerulean eyes no longer cold. Holding out a hand, you utter your familiar cocky words, “ Hey pup, you gonna sit there all day? Get your lazy butt moving…” And I gladly do so, feeling the warmness of our palms.

It was summer.

Kwentong Hayop (An Animal Story)
Author: ACMDisclaimers: Di akin ang mga hayop.A/N: Ito ay isang pagpapatunay sa apat bagay na aking na-realize ngayon.
1. Mababawa lang ako.
2. Wala akong talent sa humor.
3. Aside sa morbid akong tao, corny din ako.
4. Hindi ako magaling mag-tagalog kaya malamang taglish ito at maraming grammatical errors. (Kahit sa English pero wag na nating i-elaborate pa yun.)

Chapter 1. Ang Simula
-------------------------------------

Noong unang panahon, di pa tayo pinapanganak. Hindi pa uso ang tao at hayop ang naghahari sa Earth. Meron pang dinosaur (wala pang meteor garden), dragon (la pang dragonslayer) at little mermaid (wala ring dynamite fishing). Eneweiz, kahit ganon, lahat ng hayop chibified version (lang pakelamanan) at lahat ng di pa adult ay pumapasok sa impyerno na tinatawag na Highschool.

Matamang tiningnan ni Nessie Pusa (Nessie dahil nagiging lioness sya pag nagpopower-up) ang building ng kanyang bagong eskwelahan. Ang San Palaka of Animalia College na yata ang pinakaboring sa lahat ng kanyang napasukan. Isa pa, mukha syang maid sa kanilang uniform.

"Kung di lang dahil kay Bidie. (Pronounced as BD) " bulong nya sa sarili bago pinasok ang gusali. Doon ay nakasalubong nya ang kaibigan na si Bidie Aso. Oo, aso. Pero kahit cats and dogs sila, sila ay mag-best friend. Naalala pa nya kung paano sila nagkakilala.

FLASHBACK

"Sino ka?" mas chibified version ni Nessie ang nagtanong. Aloof sya at hindi gusto ang makihalubilo. Kaya't laking pagtataka nya nang nilapitan sya ng resident dog ng kanilang klase.

"Ako si Bidie. Pwede ba tayong maging friends?" tiningnan ni Nessie ang kausap bago nagpasya. "Sure,why not?"

ENDFLASHBACK

"Late ka na naman." salubong ng kanyang asong kaibigan. Natawa naman ang pusang pinagsabihan. "Wooh, if I know nauna ka lang ng isang minuto."

"At least!" at sila'y nagkatawanan. (Shiyet! Corny talaga. Moving on.)

Pagkapasok nila sa kanilang classroom, parang gusto na nilang umatras. Sapagkat ang kanilang mga classmate ay mukhang nangangain ng iba...literally. Wag pang isama ang advisor nila na si Miss Tilapia.

"Bakit kayo late? At ikaw Nessie pusa, sabi ni Nonoy kalapati nakita ka daw nya sa may gate. Bakit ayaw mo pa pumasok?"

"Kasi po, kala ko wala pa si BD..."

"Personal bodyguard ka nya? Umupo na nga kayo..." At nagsimula na syang magturo ng walang kamatayang biology.

Nagkahiwalay sila ng upuan dahil magkaiba sila ng last name. (Dog tsaka Cat...duh...) Napaupo si BD sa may likod samantalang si Nessie ay napatabi kay Totoy Kabayo (courtesy of Diana Lei Dungao.)

"Kamusta! Ako nga pala si Totoy Kabayo." nilahad nito ang kanyang hooves. (Ano ba tagalog nito? sabihin nyo sa akin...) Inabot ni Nessie ang kanyang paw (shiyet, pati ito ano tagalog?) at sinabing, "Ako naman si Nessie Pusa. Nice to meet you."

Sumabat naman ang katabi nitong pusit. "Ako naman si skwidwarda pusit (another courtesy of Dai.) Sana maging friends tayo."

"Sure...add nyo ko sa YM nyo ha. Chat tayo minsan."

Natapos ng matiwasay ang unang araw nila sa eskwelahan kahit umaambon nang hapong iyon. Pauwi na sila ni BD nang pigilan sya nito.

"Diba, si Len Unggoy un?" turo nito sa isang babaeng unggoy.

"Huh? Sino un?" Tanong ng pusa.

"Tangi, klasmeyt natin un..."

"I see...Lika lapitan natin." pinuntahan nila ito at binati.

"Hi! Di ba Klasmeyt ka namin? Ako nga pala si Bidie Aso, eto naman ang kaibigan ko, si Nessie Pusa." pakilala ng aso. Ngumiti naman ang unggoy.

"Ako naman si Len Unggoy. Pauwi na ko eh, kayo?"

"Pauwi na rin, san ba way mo?" tanong ni Nessie.

"Pa-rookab, kayo?"

"Dun din, sabay na tayo." Hindi nila alam na doon pala magsimula ang kanilang pagkakaibigan.

Kinabukasan...

"Hoy..." tawag ng isang boses kay Nessie. Lumingon ang pusa at nakita ang unggoy na kasabay nila kahapon. Itinuro ni Nessie ang sarili para makatiyak.

"Oo ikaw..." sagot naman ng unggoy.

"Bakit?" Tanong niya. Itinuro ni Len ang upuan ni Kapit Butiki.

"Palit kayo ni Kapit. Dito ka na lang umupo." Paliwanag ni unggoy. Umoo naman si pusa nang makitang sa likuran ng upuang iyon ay si BD.

Lumipat sya at nakipagkwentuhan. Nasa gitna sila ng pagkwekwentuhan sa crush ni Nessie nang may sumabat.

"Crush mo si Keyous?!"

Napatingin ang dalawa sa manok na katabi ni Len.

"Huh...? Oo, bakit?" sagot ni Nessie.

"AKO DIN!!!!!" nanlaki ang mata ng pusa.

"Talaga?!"

"Oo, Ako nga pala si Adarna manok. Nice to meet you." Inabot nito ang kanyang pakpak para makipagkamay. (no comment ako...kayo din dapat wala...)

"Nessie Pusa." at silang tatlo ay nagkwentuhan. Recess na nang yayain sila ni Len sa canteen.

"Pwede bang sumabay si BD?" tanong ni Nessie.

"Sure, may kasabay din tayo. Sina Petunia Kuneho at Kabibe Bibe (another courtesy of Dai. Wag ako ang patayin nyo.)" sagot naman ni Len.

"Okay."

Lumipas ang mga araw at sila ay naging close. Isang beses, hinila palabas ni Adarna si Nessie.

"May papakilala ng pala ako sa iyo. Sya nga ang best friend ko nung first year. Ka-choir ko din sya." May tinawag ito sa kailang room. Lumabas ang isang pink na baboy.

"Boink, Si nessie. Nessie si Boink." pakilala ni adarna.

"Hi! Ako nga pala si Boink Baboy. Nice to meet you."

"Nessie Pusa. Anong section mo?"

"Ako? II-Talong. Klasmeyt ka ni Adarna sa II- Ampalaya, right?"

"Yeah..."

At iyon ang umpisa ng kanilang conversation that leads to a wonderful friendship.

Silang lahat ay naging close. Ang pusa, aso, unggoy, kuneho, manok at bibe with special mention of baboy ay naging friends.

Pero di nila alam, may isang problemang paparating na susubok sa kanilang friendship...
